BY THE BEACON

Congratulations to Warwick resident Emma Joy for being chosen to sing this weekend at the upcoming Harlem Globetrotter games this Friday and Saturday. Emma was among 10 finalists, chosen out of over 200 entries, to try out at the CambridgeSide Galleria before judges for the opportunity to sing the national anthem. Sterling Forbes, a current Harlem Globetrotter was on hand to help judge the contest. 9-year-old Emma beat many folks older than her, including a 40-year-old Massachusetts woman.

Though audience members at the games will get to be wooed by her vocals this weekend, we think Emma should sing for her local sports fans, too. Hmm … someone ought to call Emo DeNitto.
